Grammostola pulchripes, commonly known as the Chaco Golden Knee tarantula, is a large, docile, terrestrial tarantula from Argentina and Paraguay, popular in the pet trade for its golden-striped legs and calm demeanor, making it a good beginner species. They are ground-dwellers that burrow, eat insects, and have a lifespan of 15-20 years for females. While venomous, their bite is not dangerous to humans unless allergic, and they prefer to flick urticating hairs as a defense.
